Course Description:

Rachel's Challenge Elementary Program
Kindness & Compassion

In this seminar, you'll learn strategies to create a climate of kindness and compassion in your classroom/campus. 
See improved behavior and reduction in discipline referrals by setting high expectations and reinforcing kind acts. 

This session focuses on five challenges:

  • Look for the best in others - acceptance
     
  • Dream big - set goals
     
  • Journaling - the powerful impact of writing down goals, thoughts, emotions, and dreams
     
  • Choosing positive influences - the power of both positive and negative influences
     
  • Small acts of kindness - start a chain reaction

Instructor Info:

Dina Rowe attended Lewisville Public Schools and graduated from Lewisville High School in 1987. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Texas at Dallas, she went on to earn a Master of Education degree from the University of North Texas in 1992.

Ms. Rowe currently serves as counselor of Dobbs Elementary School in Rockwall, Texas, which was rated as one of the 100 best schools in Texas by Texas Monthly magazine. In her work with the Rockwall Independent School District, she has been instrumental in developing and implementing several district-wide initiatives including Elementary College Awareness Week.

Rochelle Eddy received a Bachelor of Music Education from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1986 and was a music educator from 1986 to 1996. She earned a Master of Science in Counseling and Guidance from A&M-Commerce 1992.

Ms. Eddy is currently employed by the Rockwall Independent School District and serves as a Texas Certified School Counselor at Grace Hartman Elementary which was rated as a top 100 school in Texas according to Texas Monthly magazine. She has been an elementary counselor since 1996.
